Abstract
The article outlines the main system formative criteria indicative of lecture and sermon discourses belonging to an institutional discourse. In accordance with the universal model of the institutional discourse description lecture and sermon discourses have been viewed in the article. The following components of lecture and sermon discourses such as communicants, local and temporal characteristics, aims, values, strategies, subjects, varieties and genres, precedential texts, discursive formulae have been described and analyzed. Distinctive and integral properties of the given discourses have been ascertained. Among mutual criteria of the discourses under study the wide usage of precedential texts in both lecture and sermon discourses should be mentioned. Realized in the form of citation these texts can function either as a starting point for the further argumentation or as an argument itself. The research allowed to prove the belonging of the investigated discourses to an institutional discourse in spite of the occurrence of the elements of personal and existential discourses within these institutional formations.
