Journal Title: Alkoholizm i Narkomania - Year 2005, Vol 18, Issue 4

Abstract

Introduction. The article provides an overview of findings on the relationship between alcohol availability and the prevalence of health and social problems. Methodology. Medline database was searched for studies on alcohol availability published between 1993 and 2005. Seventy three articles qualified as topical, from which 18 studies have been included in the analysis presented in this review. Results. The review shows that there is complex relationship between alcohol availability and health/social problems. It can be assumed that controlling for demographic and socio-cultural variables is crucial to shed more light on the link between availability and problems.
