Journal Title: Мultiversum. Philosophical almanac - Year 2018, Vol 0, Issue 3
Abstract
Today Ukrainian national system of education is still under the high pressure of the residual ideological and practical features of former Soviet education. The latter one was excessively centralized, ideologiсal, denationalized, and militarized. It should be noted that the excessive centralization of education had negative manifestations in the USSR, namely, the lack of flexibility concerning the satisfaction of social needs in specialists of a certain profile and the delayed introduction of innovations in the educational sphere. The article is devoted to the analysis of problems related to the question how mentioned above contradictions affect the modern development of Ukrainian education. An analysis of Ukrainian education has resulted, that the educational process was under the strong ideological pressure in Soviet times. Educational management system was based on a rigid, centralized and bureaucratized hierarchy, which in turn led to the denationalization of the educational process in the republics of the former USSR. Attention is drawn to the denationalization of education, which led to the spiritual destruction of the Ukrainian people, «the erosion of its cultural and historical memory, formed a complex of linguistic and ethno-national inferiority”. The author concludes that there is a need to avoid problems which the rudimentary Ukrainian system of education inherited from the previous one. Ukrainian education was under the full reign of centralized ideology of the Soviet period, which was based on the militarization and denationalization of social consciousness. This fact should be taken into account when developing the principles and guidelines of the newest and modern national education system. Further analysis will be concentrated on the issues such as how modern Ukrainian education would get rid of the controversial Soviet heritage and wouldn’t repeat the corresponding mistakes.
