THE NORMANS SETTLEMENT AND ITS INFLUENCE ON STATE SYSTEM IN WESTERN EUROPE AND KYIVAN RUS

Abstract
The article describes the process of settlement of Normans in different regions of Western and Eastern Europe on the basis of analysis of sources and modern scientific concepts. The author analyses the mechanism of Normans’ influence on the formation of the state systems and statehood of the local tribal alliances. At the same time, the nature of apprehension of Normans in different societies is compared through the examples of Western Europe and Kyivan Rus.
