The Obsolescence of the Truth?

Journal Title: In Medias Res - Year 2018, Vol 7, Issue 12

Abstract

Thanks to the media, in our postmodernist times of prosperous populism, the value of truth (understood even though in recognition of the facts) is seriously questioned. It is an important belief that other interests are presented as theirs, and the only criterion that is respected is efficiency. Therefore, the difference between truth and deception disappears, just and unjust, meaningful and meaningless. Within this framework, there is a dramatic question: does humanity have at its disposal any means to counter the barbarization in which the obsolescence of truth leads us?
