Journal Title: Profesinės Studijos: Teorija ir Praktika - Year 2009, Vol 5, Issue 5
Abstract
The aim of the article is to ascertain peculi arities of self-perception among students with difficulties in adaptation. To gain this point we tried to work out the students who according to their tutors went through the period of ada ptation successfully; to analyse the students’ attitudes to their adaptation problems; to find out peculiarities of self-perception and to compare peculiarities of self-perception of the students whose adaptation period pas sed successfully witht he peculiarities of the students who had difficulties in adaptation period. At the beginning of the research we hypothesized that the students with adaptation problems are not much of their first days at the college. We claim that there are meaningful differences of self-perception of both groups of the students. We used these methods of the research: a scale of evaluation a process of adaptation at the college, a questionnaire for students to find out difficulties of adaptation, a questionnaire based on the scale of opposite adjectives. The results are based on the data of 175 students’ proceedings. After the research we found out that female students have more difficulties than male students. Students who have adaptation problems value their self-confidence lower than the students who succeeded in a period of adaptation: during studies girls feel worse than boys; they are more concerned about different things, feel tiredness and prostration. The research showed that students’ self-perception is different and it depends on hardiness, vigour, expressiveness, rationality and disobedience. The research suggested a possibility to bring out into open peculiarity of self-perception of the college students in a period of adaptation. It also gives a chance to correct the process of studying, using preventive and corrective directions in the work with the students.
