The phenomenon of virtual reality in the concepts of M. Mcluhan and M. Castells

Abstract
The article examines informational specific of modern society, the characteristics of the phenomenon of virtual reality, the interaction real and virtual in human perception, the characteristics of communicative situation of modern society. The relevance of the study conditioned by process of virtualization of contemporary cultural space that requires application of adequate methodological strategies. The article author analyzes the specificity of modern information culture in the concepts of M. McLuhan and M. Castells, researches the concepts of «information society» and «informational society» in the concept of M. Castells via using comparative method, examines the methodological strategy of M. McLuhan about the influence of media in shaping modern culture.
