The poet's word against the despotism of autocracy (T. Shevchenko’s topicality)
Journal Title: Держава та регіони. Серія: Гуманітарні науки - Year 2018, Vol 54, Issue 3
Abstract
The article is devoted to the issue of the contradiction between the practice of political autocracy as an indisputable imperative command and the nature of literary creativity as a manifestation of the freedom of the human spirit. The historical roots of absolutism and its relapses of the new era – in the XXth and early XXIst centuries - in the form of totalitarian ideologies and authoritarian regimes are considered. In particular, the process of forming the institution of tsarism in the Moscow state and the revival of imperial expansionist methods in the politics of modern Russia is traced. The main attention is paid to the literary analysis of the poetry by Taras Shevchenko, which contains criticism of autocracy. About 25 poems by T. Shevchenko have been studied and quoted.
