Abstract
Formal, legal and organisational changes started in Poland in the middle of 1989 that led to the establishment of a new democratic media system. The future of the “Prasa–Książka–Ruch” Workers’ Publishing Cooperative was among the most important and hotly discussed subjects. The Cooperative's governing bodies made efforts to keep the company whole or at least postpone its liquidation. The article describes one such attempt based on information from internal sources
