THE PROCESSES OF ENERGY RELEASE IN LOW-POWER SOLAR FLARES
Journal Title: Solar-Terrestrial Physics - Year 2019, Vol 5, Issue 4
Abstract
Using flare patrol data for 1972–2010 [http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/stp/space-weather/solar-data/solar-features/solar-flares/], we have conducted statistical studies of small solar flares. We have established a correlation between the flare brightness rise time and the total duration of small flares, and obtained evidence of the discreteness of relative rise times (Trel). The most significant Trel values are 0.2, 0.25, 0.33, and 0.5. As the area class and importance of flares increase, maxima of Trel distributions decrease, flatten, and completely disappear in case of large flares. We have found the discreteness of the area distribution of small flares. We have obtained distributions of solar flare energy, which exhibit significant overlap for flare energy of different area classes. The energy range of large solar flares contains 9.5 % of small flares. The energy range of flares of area class 1 has even a more significant overlap.

PARTIAL PONDEROMOTIVE FORCES OF ALFVÉN WAVES IN NEAR-EARTH PLASMA
In the study of the ponderomotive action of Alfvén waves on near-Earth plasma, the general formula for ponderomotive forces, known in classical electrodynamics of continuous media, was previously used. The formula does n...
Disturbances of ionospheric radio channel during magnetic storms in November–December 2023
This paper presents the results of analysis of oblique ionospheric sounding data obtained with continuous chirp signal on the subauroral paths Magadan—Irkutsk and Norilsk—Irkutsk. It specifies the interplanetary sources...
STUDYING THE RELATIONSHIP OF LOCALIZATION PARAMETERS OF SOLAR SOURCES OF MAGNETIC CLOUDS WITH THEIR CHARACTERISTICS AND SUBSTORM ACTIVITY
We propose a method for determining location and orientation of extended solar sources of magnetic clouds, using coronagraph data and SOHO EIT/MDI images of the photosphere. To estimate the probability of formation of ma...
CALIBRATION OF SIBERIAN RADIOHELIOGRAPH IMAGES
We discuss the method for automatic calibration of solar radio images derived from the first stage of the multiwave Siberian Radioheliograph (SRH-48). SRH is a 48-element T-shaped radiointerferometer in the 4–8 GHz frequ...
GEOMAGNETIC METHOD FOR AUTOMATIC DIAGNOSTICS OF AURORAL OVAL BOUNDARIES IN TWO HEMISPHERES OF EARTH
The ground-based automatic method for determining auroral oval (AO) boundaries developed by the authors [Lunyushkin, Penskikh, 2019] has been modified and expanded to the Southern Hemisphere. Input data of the method con...
