The progress in the therapy of chronic myeloid leukemia

Abstract
The review describes current standards of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) treatment. Recommendation of European LeukemiaNET for CML treatment are presented. In most patients as a first line treatment in newly diagnosed CML , imatinib since several years is the treatment of choice. Recommendation of second line treatment in case treatment failure are presented. In These cases second generation of tyrosine kinase inhibitors – dasatinib and nilotinib are the most preferred drugs. Indications for allogenic bone marrow transplantation for the resistant patients are also presented. Besides, new trends – which are at the stage of clinical trials aimed to cure the disease are presented.
