THE REFLECTIONS OF DEVELOPING LONDON TURKISH ETHNIC ECONOMY ON SOCIAL LIFE

Abstract
The ethnic economy formed in London by the community from Turkey is based on small scale family-run businesses. The labor force of these businesses is mostly selected from the family , relatives and fellow citizens and business owners work for long hours as intensely and as much as their salaried workers. Moreover, the second generation plays a facilitating role in the expansion of the ethnic economy dueto language proficiency and to being closely acquainted with the British system. In this study, how the developing ethic economy in London is reflected in the social and cultural lives of people from Turkey, how their ethnic and denominational roots affect the ethnic economy shall be examined. The data set of the study consists of surveys made with 213 migrants and semi-structured interviews with 60 migrants.
