The role of Hilla School in the extension of Islamic theology

Abstract

Theological school in Hilla, is of the most important and most lucrative the Shiite theological schools. Remarkable number of theologians, the multiplicity and diversity of theological works, different approaches to the knowledge are of the characteristics of this school. The most important theological event that occurred at the school so that the students entered a new stage, was entering philosophical discussions to the area of theological studies in that came to be called philosophical theology. This approach was significantly different with the traditional words, although founded by khajeh Nasir al-Din Tusi, but the efforts of Allamah Hilli settlement expansion and dominance of the movement in the current academic period and subsequent periods. Furthermore, the emergence of famous figures such as Sayed Ali bin Tawus presented interaction of different approach with theology; although he was trained in the school of Hilla, was away from the common language of the school and even sought to confront it. Another significant feature of the school is authoring of considerable works on the imamate and especially Imam Ali (Peace be upon him) and mention his noble virtues and qualities and virtues of other Imams (Peace be upon him).This article based on sources, references and new researches intent to investigate the role of the school in the extension of theology of the sixth century to the eighth century AD.
