THE ROLE OF SPIROMETRY IN THE DIAGNOSTICS OF BRONCHIAL ASTHMA AND CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE
Journal Title: Астма и Аллергия - Year 2019, Vol 1, Issue 2
Abstract
Broncho-obstructive diseases (bronchial asthma (BA), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)), despite certain success in their diagnostic and treatment still one of the leading problems of modern medicine. Therefore, the determination of the presence of bronchial obstruction, its degree of severity, reversibility, along with clinical symptoms are the main diagnostic tool for bronchoobstructive diseases. And as for COPD — the diagnosis can not be verified without signs of prolonged sustained restriction of the airways. Spirometry remains the simplest and most accessible, highly informative of the currently available methods for studying the functional state of the respiratory tract. The practical value of this method is not only that it objectifies the presence of bronchial obstruction in the BOD, but is also an objective tool for assessing the effectiveness of treatment of COPD and asthma, and prognosis of the disease. The article presents the place and diagnostic value of spirometry in bronchial asthma and COPD.
