The “Sector Conventions” as Essential Elements of International Cooperation in the Fight Against Terrorism

Abstract
The purpose of the article is to present the most important issues regarding the role, significance and nature of international cooperation concerning the fight against terrorism. The article contains a detailed analysis of the structure and essential provisions stated in selected documents – known as the “sector conventions” – concerning the different types of offenses classified as terrorism (maritime terrorism, aviation terrorism, the taking of hostages, acts of terrorism directed against diplomatic staff, and the issue of protecting nuclear material and nuclear facilities). The article also contains a brief description of the beginnings of international cooperation in the aforementioned areas, including the role and importance of international scientific conferences and the legislative initiatives of the League of Nations. Furthermore, in the text of the article, key findings and conclusions concerning the matters raised in it can also be found.
