Journal Title: The Journal of International Social Research - Year 2016, Vol 9, Issue 43
Abstract
Although regarded as one of the most important poets of that generation there are no comprehensive studies made on Seyhan Erözçelik’s poetries. It is said, he can not be approached within the general assumptions. However "self-styled" features of the poem, belonged to such poet, should be handled rightly. Pentimento (2011) is the last poetry book of Erözçelik. The basic problem of the poems in this book exists in that it remembers the regrets of the past with effect “I" in case of dissatisfaction, destructs it, and makes it to be memory by rebuilding. In this study the poems in Pentimento are examined in the axis of the subject mentioned, in terms of form and content properties, in the light of linguistic and semiotic concepts. And in the conclusion section, beginning with the resolution made, it has been said that the properties of structure of his poems, are major factors that made Erözçelik among the few major poets of Turkish poetry in the post-1980.
