The System of Kindergarten Education in Poland and Selected Countries of European Union

Abstract
The European Union (EU) for many years has been promoting the idea of developing institutional care and early childhood education for under-school children. This is, among others, reflected in numerous competitions, in which funding can be obtained for the creation or upgrading of existing kindergartens. Kindergarten is the first, but not always optional, stage of education in all European Union countries. It is the place where care is provided for babies from birth until they go to primary school. In Europe, there are two basic organizational models of pre-primary education and childcare. The first is based on a uniform structure for all pre-school children (0 to 5 / 6 years old) and the second one identifies two distinct types of institution for children: 0 to 3 years old children and 3 to 6 years old children. The aim of this article is to present the pre-school education organizational schemas in Poland and other selected European Union countries, through educational policies and educational quality level.
