THE TOPONYMS OF THE LOWER DNIEPER, MOTIVATED BY THE NAMES OF COLORS
Journal Title: Молодий вчений - Year 2018, Vol 1, Issue 53
Abstract
The toponyms of the Lower Dnieper, motivated by the names of colors, are investigated in the article. Among such toponyms, derivatives from the names of colors popular in everyday life dominate: white, black and red. In the life of a person, good and evil have always moved side by side, so white, red and black colors respectively are united in the material culture of Ukrainians. It is these colors that act as the nucleus in the color symbolic system, perform the functions of denotation and expression. It is established that more often color toponyms are names, nominated by other toponyms, which are called eponyms.
