THE USE OF THE FRACTAL GEOMETRY TO DESCRIBE THE PORE SPACE IN WET SOURCE CLAYS
Journal Title: Structure and Environment - Year 2017, Vol 0, Issue 3
Abstract
In this paper the authors attempted to use the fractal geometry to describe the pore space of the water-clay systems. The analysis was carried out on the source clays STx-1b and SWy-2. The values of the constant parameter k and fractal dimension D was determined by means of statistic. On this basis of the analysis, it was found that the description of the pore space using fractal geometry is possible.

REINFORCING OF HISTORICAL CEILING BEAMS IN THE SHEAR ZONE
The article discusses the issues concerning rehabilitation and strengthening of wooden beams in historical naked ceilings in their support area. The causes and effects of the damage in the wooden beams shear zones have b...
DISPERSED PHASE BREAKUP AT EMULSION BOILING
In this paper we consider the breakup processes of the emulsion dispersed phase. The possibility of large droplets splitting by small ones under boiling water phase due to a sharp release of pressure is shown, we also ta...
THE SIGNIFICANCE OF ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS IN URBAN DESIGN
The article presents the problems of bioclimatic architecture that derives its traditions from the distant past. Urban settlements aligned with the landscape often benefitted from natural environmental factors pragmatica...
A FINITE DIFFERENCE SCHEME TO SOLVE ONE-DIMENSIONAL PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH SOIL FREEZING AND THAWING
A finite difference scheme, which can be easily used for PC-programming to solve one-dimensional problems associated with soil freezing and thawing is presented. The method takes into account the real phase equilibria in...
RELATION BETWEEN RELIABILITY AND REINFORCEMENT MANUFACTURING ERRORS IN REINFORCED CONCRETE BEAMS
Ensuring the reliability of the structure or its elements is mainly dependent on the quality of materials and workmanship. A huge problem for reinforced concrete structures is both: employee awareness that the concrete w...
