THE VALIDITY AND RELIABILITY OF TURKISH VERSION OF THE EMOTIONAL EATER SCALE

Abstract
The aim of this study is to examine validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Emotional Eater Scale (Garaulet et al., 2012). Participants were 333 university students. The results of confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the 10 items loaded on three factors (disinhibition, type of food, guilt; x²= 97.28, df= 31, RMSEA= .080, CFI= .95, IFI= .95, GFI= .94, AGFI= .90, SRMR= .048). The internal consistency reliability coefficients were .87 for disinhibition subscale, .67 for type of food subscale, .59 for guilt subscale, and .88 for overall scale. Findings, demonstrated that this scale is a valid and reliable instrument.
