THE WORD-BUILDING STRUCTURE OF THE ABSTRACT NOUNS IN UKRAINIAN LANGUAGE OF THE B BEGINNING OF THE XX CENTURY BASED ON THE «SLOVNYK MOSKOVSKO-UKRAINSKY» BY V. DUBROVSKI

Abstract
The article studies derivative peculiarities of abstract nouns of the ukrainian language at the beginning of the XX century, analyzes the word-forming types of abstract nouns in the example of lexicography work of V. Dubrovsky. It is established that abstract names compile a significant layer of the vocabulary of modern ukrainian language, which includes words of different parts of speech, but very often nouns, which denote notions that have no real implementation, that indicate the state, sense, process, uality, character traits, different intellectual manifestations of human, relationships between individuals, nations, the concept of etiquette, are scientific and industrial terms. Trend to transfer generalized signs of abstract nouns with -ість and ств (-о), that inherent to modern ukrainian language, was clearly delineated at the beginning of the twentieth century. Names with the uality of thing occur as well with using suffixes -от(а), -иц(я), -ин(а) from adjective bases, other derivatives are rare. Formants -анн(я), -енн(я), -ин(а), -н(я) , zero suffix are used to indicate a generalized action. Substantive names with abstract meaning are smaller group according to its number, which is represented mainly in derivatives with suffix -ств(о) and konfix derivatives. Foreign formants in the sample dictionary word-building structure are observed in a small number of verb abstracts with -аці(я) and substantive names with -ик(а).
