THEORETICAL AND NUMERICAL ASPECTS CONCERNING MAGNETIC FORCE COMPUTATION FOR DC SOLENOIDAL ACTUATORS
Journal Title: Scientific Bulletin, Series: Electronics and Computer Science - Year 2014, Vol 14, Issue 2
Abstract
The paper is intended to describe the usage of Comsol Multiphysics finite element software for teaching modeling and simulation of a DC actuator. In order to evaluate the magnetic flux distribution for different plunger positions a coupling between the Magnetostatic analysis and the Parameterized geometry Comsol facility was used. Planar and conical actuators are considered. For each case the magnetic force is computed using Maxwell stress tensor and compared with analytical values. The magnetic force vs. the current and the air gap is represented. Numerical and experimental static characteristic are compared.
