Thermal energy storage: - A review
Journal Title: International Journal of Engineering and Science Invention - Year 2017, Vol 6, Issue 8
Abstract
Developing efficient and inexpensive energy storage devices is as important as developing new sources of energy. Thermal energy storage in the three forms viz. sensible heat storage, Latent heat storage with phase change materials, and thermo chemical energy storage is discussed in details. Several works pertaining to these methods are reviewed to understand the technological as well as economic factors. Materials (both liquids and solids) used for sensible heat storage are discussed and analyzed. Prospective materials that may be used as phase change materials are also tabulated. Finally the challenges ahead for thermal energy storage are also discussed.
