Time Scales of Physico-Chemicaly Driven Processes in Desulphurization CaO-Al2O3 Slag
Journal Title: Analele Universitatii "Dunarea de Jos" din Galati. Fascicula IX, Metalurgie si Stiinta Materialelor - Year 2009, Vol 32, Issue 2
Abstract
The paper is dealing with the expression of times scales associated to different physically and physico-chemically driven processes taking place on the slag side of the interface CaO-Al2O3 slags-steel, specific to the steel refining process. The driving process is that presenting the shortest time scale in comparable conditions with others. The time scale of the main physico-chemically driven process at interface steel-slag, on the slag side serves to evaluate the local interfacial flow. In this paper the conditions to evaluate the time scales are connected to the characteristic length scale of solutocapillarity effect in the form of Marangoni convection which results to be the faster process at the specified length scale taken into account, over the critical values of the solutal parameters, called threshold values.

Study of Tribocorrosion Processes by Electrochemical Techniques
Tribocorrosion is defined as the chemical-electrochemical-mechanical process leading to a degradation of materials in sliding, rolling or erosion contacts immersed in a corrosive environment. That degradation results fro...
Setting the Optimum Angle of Solar Collectors Settlement
The performance of any solar energy system depends very much on the availability of solar radiation and the orientation of solar collectors. Solar collectors need to be inclined at the optimum angle to maximize the recei...
Quality Surface Analysis for Polarized Grid Plasma Nitridings
For the study regarding the effect of the polarized grid a prototype plasma nitriding facility was used. A polarized grid was placed inside the working chamber, into the space between the anode and cathode, a negative po...
Researches Regarding the Influence of Steam Oxidation on Sintered Alloys Properties
In this paper is studied the influence of steam treatment applied on sintered steels and the mechanical properties and abrasive wear behavior for two different types of powder. Steam treatment was carried out at temperat...
Analysis of the Performance Coefficient of the Energetical Recovery of the Domestic Waste
The paper critically analyses the way of defining the coefficient of performance of the systems used for the recovery of the energy of the domestic waste in cogeneration plants. The R1 criterion of performance of the Eur...
