Journal Title: Biotecnología Vegetal - Year 2011, Vol 11, Issue 4
Abstract
This work is a brief overview on the background of in vitro tissue culture and genetic transformation of soybean, as well as a brief introduction to the origin, distribution and importance of the crop. It is also aimed to present a series of worldwide results as a preamble to the development of future researches on genetic improvement of this crop using biotechnological methods.

Establishment of a clonal bank of Caesalpinia spinosa (Mol.) O. Kuntz by selection of plus trees and grafting
In Ecuador, plant propagation techniques are not available commercially to establish clonal banks of Caesalpinia spinosa (Mol.) O. Kuntz (guarango) plus trees, which limits the development of in vitro propagation proto...
Selection of guava clonal lines of the cultivar Enana roja (EEA 18-40) for use in genetic improvement and propagation
The present work was carried out with the objective of evaluating and selecting in field conditions clonal lines of guava (variety Enana Roja, EEE 18-40) according to the fruits characters. The plants used were obtained...
Biotechnology in Plinia spp.: needs and perspectives for a neglected group of fruit species
Plinia species comprise a group of underrated fruit trees native to the South and Central American neotropics. Their fruits have high potential as a nutraceutical food and to the medicinal industry. However, among the...
Identification of sequences that are differentially expressed in the Incompatible interaction Musa acuminata - Mycosphaerella fijiensis Morelet
Black leaf streak disease caused by Mycosphaerella fijiensis Morelet is considered the most destructive and costly foliar disease of bananas and plantain. An important step for the elucidation of molecular mechanisms of...
Effect of 60Co gamma radiation on plant regeneration of Phaseolus vulgaris L. cultivar 'ICA Pijao' via indirect organogenesis
In Phaseolus vulgaris L. breeding programs has been used mutation induction, however, no radiosensitivity studies have been performed in vitro in order to define the optimal dose of radiation to be applied. The aim of...
