Journal Title: Eminak - Year 2016, Vol 0, Issue 4
Abstract
The paper presents the new materials to discussion about the relationships between Olbia, sarmatians and Roman Empire in the second half of the I century A.D. Found in the ditch of a Roman fort the sarmatian tamga on the fragment of an amphora, the study of collections of Scientific funds of NHAR «Olbia», the researches of new fortifications and burials of Roman period at Olbian region provides an additional data to the study of the topic. Non-standard planning of the fort Kamenka V indicates that there were two co-existent sub-units of the Roman army, and, possible, some sarmatian riders in it, which held strategically important position in the steppe, at the south-western borders of the Olbian State. The materials found during the excavations allowed the author to date the erecting of the fort by the second half of the I century A.D. It coincides with the campaign of T. Plautius Silvanus.
