Traction Possibilities of Mining Railways with Frictional Drives
Journal Title: Tribology in Industry - Year 2012, Vol 34, Issue 2
Abstract
Present market conditions prefer an implementation in mining some highly efficient coal longwalls, which must be insured with a supply of proper machines and equipment as well as working there men, mainly by suspended and floor(narrow-gauge) railways. A frictional contact of engine driving wheels with rails of these railways limits their traction possibilities in the essential way, particularly onto rails of increased slopes. In the paper an analysis of traction possibilities of mining railways with frictional drives from the point of view of their operating on rail inclination, taking on consideration the different ways of thrust of driving wheels onto rail has been carried out. They were also given the dependences for the calculation of required frictional contact forces of wheels on rails and boundary track inclinations, which can be overcame by the railways with frictional drives.

The Control of the Lubricant Film by the Resistive Method for Scuffing
The existence of a continuous film of lubricant increases the electrical resistance of the contact that can provide information on the quality of contact’s lubrication. This paper presents some experimental results obtai...
Nanoindentation of Za-27 Alloy Based Nanocomposites Reinforced with Al2O3 Particles
Nanoindentation has been widely used for material mechanical characterization. In this study, nanocompozite of ZA-27 alloy matrix reinforced with different volume fractions of nanometric Al2O3 ceramic particles ranging f...
Fundamental Study on No-lubricating Friction Characteristics Due to Anisotropy of Surface Properties Applied to Differential Gear
The solid frictional characteristics of surface roughness in combination with anisotropy were systematically investigated through linear reciprocating sliding tests on planar surfaces with no lubrication. Four types of t...
Effect of Composition on Mechanical Properties of Mullite-WC Nano Composites Prepared by Spark Plasma Sintering
Mullite-WC composites were prepared from Mullite and WC powders by spark plasma sintering at 1400 °C for a holding time of 180 s under 30 MPa. Microstructure, strength, and hardness of the mullite-WC composites were stud...
Effect of Surface Roughness and Temperature on EHL for Parallel Surfaces Subjected to High Acceleration
Frictional wear is one of the most common causes of material failure. One of the most common techniques to overcome this is to lubricate the surfaces in contact using an optimum amount of appropriate lubricant. Same tech...
