Transformations of Petrarchism in Edmund Spencer’s Poem “Epithalamion”

Abstract
The article deals with the poem of the English poet of the Elizabethan era, Edmund Spencer, named “Epithalamion”, under the angle of the Petrarchan impulses. It is affirmed that the author combines Platonic and Protestant philosophical paradigms in it, originally transforming the concept of love, inherent in the lyrics of Francesco Petrarch and his numerous European followers and thus creating his own unique form of Petrarchism.
