TRANSPORT POSSIBILITIES FOR LAND-LOCKED STATES IN AFRICA

Journal Title: Medzinárodné vzťahy - Year 2017, Vol 15, Issue 3

Abstract

The text Transport possibilities for land-locked states in Africa focuses on the phenomenon of land-locked states and their possibilities of transportation. Attention is paid to land-locked states in Africa which, geographically speaking, represent the largest group of land-locked states, and which are affected by the absence of sea trade the most with respect to their socio-economic development. This text uses the interrelations among the level of development, geographical location and the level of the international trade of states as its starting point, while concentrating on transport possibilities as an available tool to improve the extent of socio-economic development (among African states). Such terms in the text as land-locked state, transit state or geographically disadvantaged state are operationalized, subsequently, the origins and development of land-locked states in Africa are assessed, and, finally, some means of overcoming the disadvantages in the individual states stemming from their geographical locations are introduced.
