Treatment of dyslipidemia in patients with diabetes mellitus.
Journal Title: Pharmacological Reports - Year 2005, Vol 57, Issue
Abstract
The article reviews the key aspects of pathophysiology of diabetic dyslipidemia, its treatment and associated risk of cardiovascular complications. It examines the difference in lipidmetabolism between type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. The diagnostic values of particular lipid abnormalitiesas risk predictors for cardiovascular events are analyzed. Guidelines on hypolipemic treatment in diabetes are summarized and commented on. Standard and newly introduced methods as well as new opportunities of hypolipemic treatment are presented.

Effect of HMG-CoA (3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA) reductase inhibitors on the concentration of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) in hypercholesterolemic patients.
Studies have shown that HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (statins) play an important role in the prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis and hyperlipidemia. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of 3-month...
Cytoprotective effects of CSTMP, a novel stilbene derivative, against H(2)O(2)-induced oxidative stress in human endothelial cells.
A novel stilbene derivative, (E)-2-(2-chlorostyryl)-3,5,6-trimethylpyrazine (CSTMP), was designed and synthesized based on the pharmacophores of tetramethylpyrazine (TMP) and resveratrol (RES). In the present study, we i...
Influence of 825 C>T polymorphism of G protein β3 subunit gene (GNB3) on hemodynamic response during dobutamine stress echocardiography.
There is a wide interpersonal difference to dobutamine response during dobutamine stress echocardiography (DSE). The aim of this study was to determine an association between GNB3 825C>T gene polymorphism, encoding the β...
Molecular determinants of heart failure with normal left ventricular ejection fraction.
In population-based studies, heart failure with normal left ventricular (LV) ejection fraction (HFNEF) is now increasingly recognized and referred to as diastolic heart failure. However, the pathogenic mechanisms underly...
Cytisine inhibits the anticonvulsant activity of phenytoin and lamotrigine in mice.
Background: Cytisine (CYT), the most commonly used drug for smoking cessation in Poland, was experimentally found to induce convulsions. There is a lack of studies on the influence of CYT on the anticonvulsant activity o...
