TRENDS IN DATA VISUALIZATION IN MODERN NEWS MEDIA

Abstract
Main trends in data visualization of the online news media, namely news videos, newsgames, calculators, quizzes and infographics as well as the time of their transformation and appearance in the media market are defined in the article. Throughout the monitoring process, carried out on the news content which was produced by the rating online-media, main trends in the data visualization of the news outlets were distinguished, and the information regarding each of them was systematized and generalized. Successful examples of the visual content's usage presented in the global news outlets were examined and outlined in the article as well. Following the results of the research it was concluded that trends in the data visualization of online news media are continually transforming, and the task of the media lies either in the search of new formats or/and in their independent production, since this is a necessary condition as to both attracting new users and providing them with the additional value, gained from the published material. We have discovered that every trend indicated in data visualization keeps the reader on the site for a longer period of time; it also assists in systematizing of the information provided in the material and helps to have a better understanding of the essence of the matter.
