Trends of organic agricultural development and regional distribution of its subjects in Ukraine

Abstract

Purpose. The purpose of the article is to study the development trends and the specifics of regional distribution of subjects of organic farming in Ukraine. Methodology / approach. The theoretical and methodological basis of the research is the dialectical method of knowledge of economic processes, the fundamental provisions of modern economic theory, legislative and normative acts of Ukraine, scientific works of domestic and foreign scientists regarding the development trends and the specifics of regional distribution of subjects of organic agricultural production. To achieve the goal, methods of logical generalization and systematization; abstract method; methods of analogy and comparison are used. To visualize the results, the cartographic method is used. Results. It is established that in the world there is a tendency to increase the area of land under organic agriculture. It is proved that domestic commodity producers, adjusting to the world market conditions, began to increase the volumes of production of organic products. It is substantiated that the key factor influencing the regional distribution of producers of organic products is the approach to the markets. Originality / scientific novelty. The tendencies of development and specificity of regional distribution of subjects of organic agricultural production in Ukraine are identified. The maps showing the distribution of the number of organic operators per regions of Ukraine are constructed. It is established that the majority of organic farms are located in Kyiv, Odessa, Vinnitsa, Kherson, Chernivtsi, Ternopil and Poltava regions. Regarding the regional distribution of the number of exporters and importers of organic products, it should be noted their concentration in the Kherson region, which is related to logistics. Practical value / implications. The development tendencies and regional distribution of subjects of organic agricultural production in Ukraine are estimated. The peculiarities of the regional distribution of the number of enterprises that link their business with the organic sector are analyzed. The analysis conducted will help potential producers of organic products to plan economic activities.
