Journal Title: «Вчені записки Таврійського національного університету імені В. І. Вернадського. Серія: Філологія. Соціальні комунікації» - Year 2018, Vol 29, Issue 4
Abstract
The article explores metaphors of the Turkish politicians, inspired by the plots from the Turkic mythology. In particular, attention is focused on metaphors, the correlates of which were mythical creatures, characters and natural phenomena. The rich factual material made it possible to distinguish such a metaphorical model as “SOCIO-POLITICAL REALITY is a MYTHOLOGICAL WORLD”. The analysis of frames and slots within the metaphorical model shows that Turkic mythology has a significant influence on the Turkish representation of reality, an important role in which belongs to metaphors. As a result, it was testified that metaphors inspired by the plots from the Turkic mythology can have both positive and negative connotations.
