Ukrainian history through the prism of Vasyl Shklyar’s literary works

Abstract

The article highlights the main problems of Vasyl’ Shklyar’s novels “Zalyshenets. Chorny Voron” (“That Who Stayed. Black Raven”) and “Marusya”. These are the problems of the historical truth, sacrificial rebels’ struggle for the Ukrainian state, patriotism and betrayal. Main and supporting characters that are divided by the author on positive and negative ones are analyzed in the article.
