Understanding of law: scientific and social and cultural approaches

Abstract
The article is devoted to the issue of understanding of law coverage. The article focuses on the non-identity of law and a law, incorrect understanding of law as prescriptive texts, which follows from understanding of that that constitutes law. It is noted that in the framework of different cultures they have their own understanding of what is law. There are two approaches to the typology of the understanding of law in the paper. First, let's conditionally call it scientific, is peculiar to national (and mostly in the post-Soviet States) legal science. The second approach does not have these disadvantages because it sees law as an open system, a social and cultural phenomenon, and focuses on the practical importance of law, legal phenomena, and the science of law. Therefore, this approach is called social and cultural.
