Journal Title: International Journal of Ayurveda & Alternative Medicine - Year 2016, Vol 4, Issue 5
Abstract
Infertility is one of the global gynecological problems now-a-day. WHO defined infertility as failure to conceive over one year continuous exposure to unprotected coitus. It develops due to fault in either of the partner or both of them. Male related problems account for about 30%, female related problem account for another 30%; in next 30% both are responsible. The remaining 10% are of unexplained infertility. The unexplained infertility appears to represent either the lower extreme of the normal distribution of fertility or it arises from a defect in the fecundity that cannot be detected by the routine infertility evaluation. In Ayurveda, it is described as Vandhyatva which is one among the Yonivyaapad and it is due to mithyachar, dushta artav, beejdosha and daivya (god) i.e. in the absence of apparent cause, Vandhyatva is said to develop due to curses of god. Incidence of unexplained infertility is increasing constantly due to environmental pollution and faulty life styles. Well prescribed treatment is available for all causes of infertility in all systems of medicine. For unexplained infertility satisfactory treatment is not available in modern system of medicine. In the absence of a correctable abnormality, the therapy for unexplained infertility is by default, empiric. Proposed treatment regimen includes - Panchakarma, Uttarbasti, Dincharya, Ritucharya, Ahar -Vihara, Yoga, Pranayam ,Garbhakarak aushadhi and Counseling in Ayurveda. Also COH, IUI, IVF, ICSI, GIFT & ZIFT in modern science.
