URBAN COMMUNITY IN CRISIS? Metropolitan Communities
Journal Title: Miscellanea Anthropologica et Sociologica - Year 2018, Vol 19, Issue 1
Abstract
The article discusses the issue of metropolitan communities and their role in a life of urban community. Beyond discussion is a communal character of families or to be more correct communal character of households, metropolitan neighbourhoods, and religious communities operating in the city. Can one talk in urban conditions about communities of higher order: local neighbourhood communities or even community composed of all of the city citizens? If yes then when, under which conditions urban community reveals its existence and activity? Based on literature review and empirical research I am trying to convince in the article that the communities of higher order exist. The typical for them is the conditions of hibernation or latency. The communities reveal themselves and their capability to act when some external factors: social, economic, political or natural threaten their existence in the existing so far condition.
