URBAN COMMUNITY IN CRISIS? Remarks on the Community Reproduction in the Anomy. The Issue of the Citizen’s Social Integration through Participation in the Culture

Abstract
In the article, the author discusses the issue of creating a model of a social life based on the community rules and reconstructed by inviting to the participation in the culture or by narrations regarding the city and its dwellers. The presented results of the studies performed during the European Capital of Culture Wrocław 2016 show that the social functions of culture – while they can support integration of citizens in the case of shared common values – in the sphere of practice are reminiscent of the creation of social order in the state of anomy; they point to the limitations of this kind of social intervention as a tool of creating a community order of the city.<br/><br/>
