Abstract
The aim of this paper is qualitatively and quantitatively analysis of nicotine and cotinine in hair subjects living in town Tbilisi. Gas-liquid hromatography is used. Samples was cut near the hair root from the rear of each participant’s scalp and collected in refrigerator. The results indicated that nicotine and cotinine concentration in hair is individual. Our studies confirm the several studies that is no differences in nicotine and cotinine uptake in relation to hair type, hair color and other individual variation. A smoll amount of hair from the scalp can potentially represent exposure to secondhand smokers. It would be interesting to investigate of tobacco smoke components (nictoin, cotinin) in lung tissue after the smoking process. The studies are necessary in different direction.
