Water diseases that affect the population as an effect of the use and consumption of available water: a view from nursing actions

Abstract

Introduction:The consumption and use of poor-qualitywater is the main cause of water diseases in the general population. Objective:Identify water diseases that affect the population due to water use in the La Primavera sector in the south of the city of Esmeraldas. Materials and methods:The method used in this study was transversal, descriptive, qualitative and quantitative, in a sample of 114 families with which it was possible to know demographic information, access to water, sanitation, health and hygiene and mainly water diseases. Result:It was found that the population object of this study has suffered some of the diseases caused by the use of unsafe water, as a result of the accelerated deterioration of the health infrastructure, few prevention measures and little or no training in this regard. Conclusion:The lack of hygiene of the water reservoirs due to contamination, the presence of vectors in the water reservoirs in 85%, 82% of the population treats the water for consumption, while in the characteristics of the water it was found turbidity with 83%, inadequate water treatment with 98.04%, this according to what could be obtained from the families object of this study, determining that with respect to nursing care at the community level it can contribute to the reduction of water diseases in the residents of the sector
