Abstract
The paper discusses the problem of how fundamental values of Mediterranean culture are incorporated into Herbert's works. The author made an attempt to characterize Herbert's notion of classicism, resting on the writer's statements and metareflection of his works without claiming full explanation of the most essential historical and literary points devoted to Herbert's classicism.
