Work-related Smartphone Use Outside of Official Working Hours: The Impact on Work-life Conflict and Work Engagement

Abstract
Work-related communication technology use after hourshas been a profound influence on employee’s work and family lives. The purpose of this study was to investigatethe influence of work-related smartphone use outside of official working hours on work-life conflict and work engagement among working adults in Malaysia with employment sector as a moderator.An online survey of 229 working adults across Malaysia found that work-related smartphone use outside of official working hours was positively associated withwork-life conflict and work engagement. However, employment sector did not moderate those relationships.
