YOUTH ATTITUDES TOWARDS MARRIAGE AND GENDER ROLES

Abstract

This study has been carried out to determine attitudes toward marriage and gender role of the university youth. The sample of the study constitutes of 307 undergraduate students selected by apropriate sampling among the university students studying at two different universities. Of the university students included in the research were 56,2% female (n=172) and 43,8% male students (n=135). It has been found in this study, students attitudes towards marriage and gender role indicate statistically significant difference both of gender (t(307)= 7.03, p<0.05) and classes (t(307)= 7.03, p<0.05). It was determined that there is a positive and meaningful relationship between attitude towards marriage and attitude towards equal gender role (r= ,13 ve p<,05). Results are discussed based on ithin social and behavioral sciences approach.
