A Comparative Analysis on The Social Competences of Maintreaming Students in Genaral Education Class and Special Education Class

Abstract
The aim of this study is to compare and research the social skills of the students with mainstreaming who are attending to primary school classes, the mainstreaming students who are attending to primary school classes and also getting support training in support training chamber, and the mainstreaming students who are attending to special classes formed in primary school body. The research is a descriptive study comparatively analyzing the social skills of mental disability students. In this research study group, there are 190 mainstreaming students who have mental disability and are educated at 12 primary schools in İzmir in 2010-2011 educational years. The data was used by Social Skills Rating System –SBDS which was developed by Gresham and Eliot in 1987 and adapted into Sucuoğlu ve Özokçu (2005). In the results of the research no differences has been found on levels of social skills and the levels of problem behaviour of the students with mainstreaming who are attending to primary school classes, the mainstreaming students who are attending to primary school classes and also getting support training in support training chamber, and the mainstreaming students who are attending to subclasses formed in primary school. According to the academic competence, the levels of academic skills of the students of subclasses have been found higher than the other two groups. There is need to more research about variables related with social skills of students with special needs.
