Adaptive slicing 3d model of product in additive technologies

Abstract

A study on the possibilities of adaptive slicing initial 3D model (given by the STL-file) is presented in the forming of product by additive technologies. The proposed method of adaptive slicing 3D model allows to increase the layering productivity and to regulate the accuracy of manufacturing products based on a reasonable defining the build step for each lowering of working platform of plant. The build step is chosen taking into account the probability density function of inclination angles of the product surface normal from the build direction vector. The efficiency of adaptive slicing was evaluated on the basis of a comparative analysis of the number of layers for the production of models of the simplest geometric figures and complex industrial products. The slicing was performed using a specially developed subsystem to the system «Technological preparation of complex product materialization by additive manufacturing».
