Journal Title: Eye Science (Yanke Xuebao) - Year 2023, Vol 38, Issue 3

Abstract

Optic neuritis associated with neuromyelitis optic spectrum disorders is a demyelinating inflammatory disease involving the optic nerve, often presents with severe vision loss, poor prognosis and high recurrence rate. Timely control of acute attacks and effective prevention of recurrence are the keys to treatment. At present, the treatment mainly includes corticosteroids, plasma exchange, immunoadsorption, immunosuppressants, targeted monoclonal antibodies. Especially in recent years, great progress has been made in Eculizumab, Satralizumab, and inebilizumab. This article reviews the recent research progress in the treatment of optic neuritis associated with NMOSD, hoping to provide useful references for clinical decision-making.
