Advective-dispersive model of pollutant transport in the vicinity of sanitary landfill with vertical barrier
Journal Title: Biuletyn Państwowego Instytutu Geologicznego - Year 2008, Vol 431, Issue 431
Abstract
The paper presents the numerical modelling of groundwater flow and pollutant transport for the old sanitary landfill surrounded by a vertical barrier. The FEMWATER numerical program was used for the flow and transport simulation. The modelling was aimed at the assessment of the vertical barrier effectiveness of groundwater protection in landfill surroundings. The slick of chlorides concentration in groundwater was used for simulation of a transport process in numerical modelling. Results of the local monitoring of the landfill area, including chemical analyses of water and leachate as well as groundwater level observations, were used for verification and calibration of the numerical model.
