Amylina w badaniach eksperymentalnych. Fibrylotwórczy polipeptyd amyloidu trzustkowego

Abstract
W przebiegu cukrzycy typu 2 (diabetes mellitus type 2 DM2, non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus, NIDDM) oraz w rozwoju guza insulinowego trzustki, obserwuje się w obrębie wysp Langerhansa patologiczne depozyty zwane amyloidem. W skład amyloidu trzustki wchodzi m.in. polipeptyd wytwarzany przez komórki beta, zwany amyliną. Nieprawidłowo zwinięta, fibrylująca cząsteczka amyliny, w postaci nierozpuszczalnych fibryli powoduje dysfunkcję, niszczenie i utratę komórek wysp, postępującą destrukcję narządu i tym samym postęp choroby. W pracy przedstawiono skład amyloidu trzustki, wyspy Langerhansa jako mikrośrodowisko formowania amyloidu, występowanie amyliny i amyloidu w świecie zwierząt i u człowieka, a także kryteria uznania formowanych depozytów za amyloid.
