Abstract
The aim of the study is to investigate the understanding of fair play of students of School of Physical Education and Sports. The sample is composed of a total 691 participants (291 males, 400 females) who are students at Kocaeli University School of Physical Education and Sports in 2015-2016. Personal information form and the “Multidimensional Sportspersonship Orientation Scale” developed by Vallerand et. al.(1997) and adapted by Gülfem Sezen in Turkish are used as data collection tools in this study. The interpretation of data is based on frequency and percentage distribution and Mann-Whitney U test. According to the results of the study, the subscales of Multidimensional Sportspersonship Orientations Scale showed that participants are oriented to Social Norms, bound to responsibilities in Sports, respectful to Administration, but partially respectful to wrong decisions of referee and to their opponents. Considering the gender, there is a statistically significant difference between the subscales of Respect to Rules and Administration (p <0.05). When the subscales are investigated based on tte active sports life of the participants, the subscales of Respect to Rules and Administration and Bound to Responsibilities in Sports show significant differences.
