Journal Title: Journal of the Human and Social Science Researches - Year 2017, Vol 6, Issue 1
Abstract
At the foundation of the voluntary domestic and external migration movements, lies the aim of reaching a higher level of well-being. The Better Life Index, created by OECD, can be used to measure the level of well-being of a country or region. This index was adopted to Turkish provinces by Turkish Statistical Institute (2016) and published with the title “Well Being Index for Provinces 2015”. In this context, the aim of the study is to test whether there are significant differences between the net migration levels for 2011-15 period (five years) is positive (migration-receiving) or negative (emigrant) provinces with regard to 11 dimensions of the Well-Being Index (housing, work life, income and wealth, health, education and so on.) and to estimate a model for explaining the net migration level of provinces with the help of these dimensions.
